NIPPER INFORMATION

Sandridge Carnival Report Nippers Carnival was on Saturday. Although confronted by rain, I believe we had about 60 competitors there. A huge improvement on the size of last years competition team. I think the official results said we came 8th Overall. However, checking through the results I’m sure that this was just the pre-rain aggregate. I think we came at least 4th or 5th overall. When all the results sheets dry out we might know this for sure. Well done all nippers and nipper coaches and age managers If this was your first carnival, well done. This was an extremely difficult day for everyone A full list of results are on the SLSV website and should be updated by this weekend. When these results are posted I will add the results here. Best results for the day where from Ella with three 1st places and one 2nd and Oscar with three 1st and one 3rd. The junior boys and girls had some great team results in the board relay and wade relays Special mention to all the parents, who in the face of difficult conditions you made the most of the day and actively encouraged your nippers to achieve

Nipper general information Half Moon Bay has a proud history spanning nearly 100 years. Our junior (Nipper) program is designed to give young members the skills they require to negotiate the beach environment safely. This year over 5,500 young Victorians will be involved in the Nippers program. In a fun environment, children meet new friends and learn water safety and survival skills. Participants complete a series of surf education modules tailored for ages 6 to 13 years. The diversity of lifesaving is a unique activity for young people to engage in. This diversity ensures there is something for everyone! The nipper program acts as a stepping stone for our juniors to become lifesavers whilst promoting a healthy and active lifestyle. During the season there are 5 junior carnivals and regional and state championships. Lifesaving competition promotes lifesaving skill development, fun & fitness. The competitions have a vast array of team and individual events such as beach sprinting, beach flags, surf swimming races, rescue and iron man events.
